Application – Space & Communications

Objective: World leader in providing  fixed satellite services, including transponder leasing for corporate data networks used CETOL 6σ to address design issue with PBB hole position and resulting product defects.

Results:  Determined statistical Quality of 0.9s – 105,304 Defects Per Million. CETOL 6σ  indicated that holding the hole position to 0.005 would cut the defects per million in half!

 

Application  – Aerospace Landing Gear

       

Objective: Design analysis to improve and address weight requirements for the landing gear, without the need for shims.

Results:  CETOL 6σ for CATIA used for analysis on landing gear system determined minimal changes while still retaining design robustness. Took into consideration “free play” and shimmed configurations of the system. Successful pilot project completed in less than 60 days; completion of analysis for high profile militiary projects for the customer

 

 

Application – Optics Alignment

Objective: A major challenge faced in this industry segment is impact lens rotation has on optic accuracy. CETOL 6σ was used here to address alignment issues with respect to this rotation.

Results:  CETOL 6σ was used to determine the largest design tolerance values that would still achieve the optical cell focal length and center-line error maximum variation requirement.

Application  – Missile Guidance System

Objective: Development of infrared camera had either a wide angle or narrow angle view that were switched as needed to pick up the tracking signal on missile

Results:  CETOL 6σ analysis dramatically and easily reduced the effects of variation in the design, producing a robust product
