Advanced Topics of GD&T [Computer-Based, Self-Paced]
The Advanced Topics of GD&T Computer-Based Training (CBT) course continues the coverage of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing concepts and techniques by building upon the content of the Level 1 GD&T Fundamentals Course. It combines the lecture portions of the two instructor-led courses offered by Sigmetrix – Level 2 GD&T Applications and Level 3 Advanced GD&T courses. The content is arranged to progress from individual features, expand on datum theory and tools, then progress through interrelationships of features and specialized tolerancing tools and available in the ASME Y14.5-2009 standard. Topics discussed include:
- Additional considerations for features of size
- Constraint-based explanation of tolerance zones
- Additional discussion of MMC, LMC, MMB, and LMB applications
- Methods and examples of controlling Coaxiality
- Composite, and Multiple Single Segment, Position and Profile tolerances
- Multiple Datum Feature Concepts (coaxial datums, coplanar datums, etc.)
- Material Boundary Modifiers applied to Features of non-size
- Per-unit-area and per-unit-length tolerances
- Restrained Condition and Free State Symbols, including best practices for specifying restraint
- Customized Datum Reference Frames and where they offer best value
