Our Computer-Based Courses have been developed to make learning at your own pace easy and intuitive. The user portal contains all of the content in one window, the module outline listed on the right side of screen allows for easy navigation and ability to review some of the more complicated points as needed, users can swap video and slides at any time, plus there is a mobile app for iOS and Android which allows users to save courses and take them offline.

Level 1 GD&T Fundamentals Course   [Computer-Based, Self-Paced]

Learn the fundamentals of GD&T at your own pace.  This computer-based course allows students to go through the same curriculum as our Level 1 course through a combination of videos and slides along with quizzes and tests. (ASME)

  • There are 21 units including introduction that cover the major concepts in GD&T. Each unit is from 10 to 60 minutes in length depending on the concepts covered and the student’s pace.
  • Quizzes at the end of modules allow students to ascertain their grasp of the concepts and revisit material when needed.

Advanced Topics in GD&T   [Computer-Based, Self-Paced]

The Advanced Topics in GD&T Computer-Based Training (CBT) course continues the coverage of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing concepts and techniques by building upon the content of the Level 1 GD&T Fundamentals Course.  It combines the lecture portions of the two Instructor-led courses offered by Sigmetrix – Level 2 G&D Applications and Level 3 Advanced GD&T courses. The content is arranged to progress from individual features, expand on datum theory and tools, then progress through interrelationships of features and specialized tolerancing tools and available in the ASME Y14.5-2009 standard.

Topics discussed include:

  • Additional considerations for features of size
  • Constraint-based explanation of tolerance zones
  • Additional discussion of MMC, LMC, MMB, and LMB applications
  • Methods and examples of controlling Coaxiality
  • Composite, and Multiple Single Segment, Position and Profile tolerances
  • Multiple Datum Feature Concepts (coaxial datums, coplanar datums, etc.)
  • Material Boundary Modifiers applied to Features of non-size
  • Per-unit-area and per-unit-length tolerances

MBE Overview Computer-Based Training Course

Model-Based Enterprise (MBE) is a business practice primarily focused on the use of digital data and subsequent datasets. To support an MBE, various model-based activities (MBx) are typically implemented, such as model-based definition (MBD) or model-based systems engineering (MBSE). The goal of being able to produce, consume, and utilize digital data both upstream and downstream can be achieved with proper implementation and preparation. 

This course is an introduction to MBE. No prior knowledge or understanding is needed. Students will be guided through various topics discussing what an MBE is, why it matters, and how it can be supported. Model-based definition is also discussed, and MBD schemas are introduced to provide a basis for structuring data within an MBE. Students can expect to finish the course with a general knowledge of MBE, MBD and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). The goal of this course is to provide learners with enough knowledge to make informed decisions regarding MBE and MBD, while feeling confident about adopting a model-based enterprise.

CETOL Fundamentals Course   [Computer-Based, Self-Paced]

Version: CETOL v10.4 for CATIA, Creo, NX, and SOLIDWORKS 

This course utilizes a combination of lecture videos, software demonstrations, detailed exercises, quizzes and written reference materials to teach the fundamentals of CETOL 6σ. Upon completion of the course students will be able to build and validate assembly variation models and make design decisions to optimize the nominal designs and tolerance assignments. The coursework is broken into tasks which students complete at their own pace. Completed CETOL model files are included to allow students to compare their work to the desired results. 

Topics include: 

  • The CETOL 6σ Interface, Interaction with CAD System data, and CETOL Application Options 
  • Assembly Modeling including defining requirements, accurate assembly constraints, multiple positions of an assembly, dealing with clearance, and import of CAD assembly constraints 
  • Part modeling including application of functional dimensioning with standard and geometric dimension schemes, manufacturing variation, and import capabilities directly from CAD model 
  • Model validation using visualization functionality 
  • Results interpretation, design optimization, and reporting

  • 15 units describing ranging from a brief over of worst-case and statistical analysis concepts, introduction to the software, to detailed explanations of functionality and workflows.  
  • Two delivery options are available – browser-based portal when connected and mobile app for iOS and Android allowing users to save courses and take them offline. 
  • Exercises with detailed instructions let the user apply the concepts just presented to “learn by doing.” 
  • Quizzes at the end of modules allow students to ascertain their grasp of the concepts and revisit material when needed.

PTC Creo GD&T Advisor Fundamentals Computer-Based Training Course (ASME) 

Version: Creo 4.0-8.0 

This course utilizes a combination of lecture videos, software demonstrations,  detailed exercises, and a written training manual to teach the fundamentals of PTC Creo GD&T Advisor. Upon completion of the course students will be able to apply semantic GD&T annotations to their part files consistent with the applicable ASME and ISO standards. Such information comprises a significant part of Model-Based Definition (MBD) and serves as the foundation for the Model-Based Enterprise (MBE). The coursework is broken into tasks which students complete at their own pace.  

Topics include:  

  • An overview of the interface and workflow followed by more in-depth explanations and exercises on the tools provided 
  • Managing notes 
  • Working with multi-elements holes and patterns 
  • How to define datum targets 
  • Additional considerations for drafted features 
  • Unique workflows supporting more advanced definitions such as common datums (i.e. A-B) and self-referencing datum features 

Learn the fundamentals of PTC Creo GD&T Advisor at your own pace. This computer-based course allows students to complete the same curriculum as our instructor-led course but at a schedule that can be balanced with other work demands. The course consists of  

  • 11 units ranging describing all aspects of the tool including some more advanced applications of GD&T.  
  • Two delivery options are available – browser-based portal when connected and mobile app for iOS and Android allowing users to save courses and take them offline. 
  • Exercises with detailed instructions let the user apply the concepts just presented to “learn by doing.” 
  • Training manual in ebook format 

Target Audience
