            Course Description

            Take your skills past the fundamentals with an advanced GD&T training experience built for engineers and designers who already speak the language and now need to apply it in more complex situations. This GD&T online course (Computer-Based Training) continues where Sigmetrix Level 1 GD&T Fundamentals leaves off, combining the lecture portions of Sigmetrix’s Level 2 GD&T Applications and Level 3 Advanced GD&T instructor-led courses into a single, structured learning path.

            The course builds on knowledge of individual features and progresses into deeper datum reference frame theory and practical tools. It also covers complex feature relationships and specialized tolerancing methods aligned with ASME GD&T (Y14.5-2009). You’ll learn to confidently create and interpret drawings with multiple interacting controls and prevent the downstream issues that often emerge in these advanced use cases. Key topics include:

            • additional considerations for the features of size

            • a constraint-based view of tolerance zones

            • expanded applications of MMC/LMC and material boundary modifiers 

            • Methods for controlling coaxial relationships 

            You’ll also work through composite and multiple single-segment position/profile tolerances, multi-datum feature concepts (coaxial and coplanar), per-unit-area/per-unit-length tolerances, restrained/free state symbols (including best practices for specifying restraint), and customized datum reference frames - when they add the most value and when they don’t.

            Because instructor-led delivery typically includes hours of guided application, we strongly encourage pairing this GD&T online course with at least 8 hours of 1:1 time with a Sigmetrix instructor to reinforce real-world application.
