GD&T Overview - 2 1/2 Hours (300-00-146)
$100.00 USD
2.5-hour GD&T overview: align teams on datums, feature control frames, and how GD&T improves verification vs plus/minus.
Course Description
Need a fast way to get everyone aligned on GD&T? GD&T Overview (2 1/2 Hours) is a focused session that introduces the core topics of GD&T and how they affect real work across design, manufacturing, quality, and inspection.
In about 2.5 hours, you’ll learn why GD&T is used and how it differs from traditional plus/minus dimensioning. Explore the deficiencies of plus/minus dimensioning and the downstream confusion that occurs when there’s room for interpretation. From there, the course walks through key building blocks like features and features of size, foundational GD&T rules and how requirements are communicated through feature control frames.
This GD&T Overview course focuses on establishing a shared understanding of datums, datum features, and the datum reference frame, since these concepts often determine how inspectors will evaluate a part and whether inspection results are consistent from one team (or supplier) to another. You’ll also review the implications of GD&T on purchasing, supply chain, inspection requirements, and other business issues.
This overview is a strong fit for new-to-GD&T team members, cross-functional stakeholders who need context, or organizations looking to create a shared baseline of GD&T knowledge before moving into deeper application training.
Need a shorter option?
If you’re looking for an even quicker introduction or a lightweight refresher, we also offer a GD&T Overview (1 Hour) version that covers the core concepts at a high level - ideal for busy stakeholders or teams that want a brief baseline before deeper training.
